Idaho Smokehouse Partners, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), initiated the recall of approximately 29,541 pounds of “Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild” following two consumer complaints about metal contamination. The affected beef sticks were produced between January 13 and January 15, 2025, and distributed to retailers in California and Illinois. While no injuries have been reported, the FSIS warns that some of these recalled items may still be lurking in consumers’ pantries.

The recalled product is the “Chomps Original Beef Stick Mild,” packaged in 1.15-oz vacuum-sealed packs. Check your labels for the following details:

In addition to the beef sticks, Chomps has voluntarily recalled select lots of its 1.15-oz Original Turkey Sticks produced during the same timeframe.

Why the Recall Happened

Idaho Smokehouse Partners acted swiftly after the metal piece complaints surfaced. “Once we became aware of the two complaints, we worked with regulatory authorities to ensure consumer safety out of an abundance of caution,” the company stated. “Our commitment to the highest food safety standards drives this recall.” Chomps echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their proactive approach: “Through a thorough investigation with our manufacturing partner and USDA oversight, we identified and recalled all potentially affected products.
